About The Position
Daniels Health & Sharpsmart is hiring a dependable, safety-minded driver to support healthcare routes in the Gastonia, North Carolina area. The role involves local routes and transporting medical waste and sharps containers for hospitals and other healthcare facilities while providing professional customer service. Drivers operate vehicles up to 26-foot box trucks, complete scheduled deliveries, and follow applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements. This is a permanent, full-time position of 40 hours per week, with consistent Monday-to-Friday first-shift hours and no weekends. The position offers a set hourly rate of $22 for Class B drivers, with different rates specified for hazmat-endorsed drivers, Class A holders, and non-CDL drivers. Overtime opportunities are available. Full-time roles include benefits, sick leave, and vacation leave from day one.
Requirements
- Valid CDL, or a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and DOT medical card.
- Experience operating vehicles up to 26-foot box trucks.
- Familiarity with DOT compliance, logging hours, and roadside inspections.
- Confidence completing Level 1–3 DOT road checks.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and proven tenure with past employers.
- Customer-focused mindset and a flexible, can-do attitude.
- Commitment to safe driving and on-time delivery practices.

Responsibilities
- Safely collect, transport, and store medical waste and sharps containers.
- Operate company vehicles up to 26-foot box trucks.
- Manage assigned local routes and provide timely, reliable service.
- Complete deliveries according to schedule and communicate route changes or issues.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Maintain DOT compliance, including logs and roadside inspections.
- Load and unload containers throughout the day; heavy lifting is required.
- Organize and prioritize the truck based on route needs.
- Build positive relationships with healthcare customers through professional, friendly service.
