Class B Delivery Driver
About The Position
The Class B Delivery Driver transports finished goods to customers using a 6-foot box truck. The role includes inspecting the truck before and after trips, checking finished products for quality, loading and unloading deliveries according to customer instructions, and operating material-handling equipment as needed. Drivers must maintain a clean and organized truck and work area and follow DOT compliance and safety rules. The shift starts between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. and typically lasts 8 to 10 hours. Drivers are generally home daily, though a single overnight run may occasionally be required. Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the regular rate after 8 hours. In the rare event of a short route, the driver must be willing to assist in shipping or similar departments.
Requirements
- Class B CDL.
- Valid DOT Medical Card.
- Clean motor vehicle record.
- Willingness to participate in deliveries by unloading to customers' specifications as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, twist, squat, or stoop throughout the day.
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
Responsibilities
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on a 6-foot box truck.
- Conduct quality checks on finished products before delivery.
- Load, transport, and unload finished goods according to customers' instructions and specifications.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment as needed.
- Keep the truck and work areas clean and organized.
- Follow DOT compliance requirements and safety rules.
- Assist in shipping or similar departments when a route is short, which is expected to occur rarely.
