About The Position

Counsel approximately 400 Gallatin students including first year and transfer students with the goal of enhancing their academic experience and retaining them as students; develop strategies to ensure that students are able to complete degree programs; provide advisement, monitor academic progress; discuss requirements and electives, evaluate degree requirement petitions and time limit exceptions for program completion, identify and provide resources for students at risk. Collaborate with and support primary academic advisers in working with their advisees. Ensure that students receive timely and appropriate academic advice. Assist the Assistant Dean of Advising in developing workshops to support the academic program, foster community, and encourage student leadership. Collaborate with the other Class Advisers and the Offices of Student Services and Student Affairs on graduation, orientation and other school-wide events. Teach one course a year. Serve as primary academic adviser for 15-20 students.

Requirements

  • ABD (All But Dissertation)
  • 3+ years of relevant responsible professional level experience including experience with academic advising, developing policies and procedures, teaching, and staff supervision or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and planning skills.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet software.
