About The Position

Ryder is hiring a part-time Class A CDL Truck Driver in Jacksonville, Florida. The position pays $23.50 per hour, averages $705 per week, and provides approximately 30 hours of work per week. Drivers receive weekly pay, paid training, and a $1,200 loyalty bonus paid in two installments: half at six months and half at one year.

The schedule includes Saturdays and Sundays, as well as some weekdays, with start times between 4:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. depending on the route. Drivers make solo local deliveries to surrounding distribution centers and return home daily. The vehicle is a day-cab tractor pulling a 53-foot dry van; freight is retail goods and requires no touch. Ryder provides uniforms and a boot allowance, and describes its trucks as well-maintained, safe, and 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including verification of drug and alcohol history from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
