About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Bradenton, Florida, to deliver water freight in Florida. Drivers deliver solo, operate automatic day-cab tractors with tanker trailers, and return home daily. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with weekend hours required. Dispatch is on the first shift, with workdays of 10 or more hours. Tanker endorsement and tanker experience are required.

Pay is $28.00 per hour, with overtime at $42.00 per hour after 40 hours. This account averages $1,540 per week. Paid training is provided. Ryder provides well-maintained trucks, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Drivers are empowered to make safety decisions, and the job is protected when they do so.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position; a tanker endorsement is required.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Have 9 months to 1 year of tanker experience.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some positions may require additional screening, which may include employment and education verification, a motor vehicle records check and road test, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
