About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Lexington, NC. The position offers a weekly pay of $700-$900, with an hourly rate of $21.00. A sign-on bonus of $625 is paid after 30 days and another $625 after 90 days. Drivers receive $65 per night for 3-5 nights per week spent in the truck. There is a robust backhaul program offering additional miles, with $50 for pickup and $50 for delivery. Paid training is provided. The schedule is Sunday to Friday with varying start times. Drivers will deliver solo to various states including NC, SC, GA, MS, AL, TN, VA, WV, OH, MI, PA, IL, IA, MO, MN, WI, MD, NJ, NY, using a Sleeper Tractor and a 53' Dry Van trailer. Freight involves touching, tailgating, and sliding windows & doors from inside the trailer to the back door/scan. Ryder emphasizes safety, allowing drivers to make safety decisions, and offers support for those considering becoming a Company Driver by purchasing their truck. Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
  • Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
  • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
  • Must have 1 Year Sleeper Experience

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
  • Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
  • Maintaining accurate records and logs
  • Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
  • Performs other duties as assigned
