About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Lexington, NC, offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career. The position offers $1200 - $1600 per week, with solo miles paying $0.56 per mile (1000 - 2500 miles per week) and solo stops paying $21.00 per stop (15 - 25 stops per week). A sign-on bonus of $1250 is paid after 30 days and another $1250 after 90 days. Drivers receive $65 per night in the truck for 3 - 5 nights per week. There is a robust backhaul program offering additional miles, $50 for pickup and $50 for delivery. Paid training is provided. The schedule is Sunday to Friday with varying start times. The routes are regional, covering NC, SC, GA, MS, AL, TN, VA, WV, OH, MI, PA, IL, IA, MO, MN, WI, MD, NJ, NY, using a Sleeper Tractor and 53' Dry Van trailer. The freight involves touching, tailgating, and sliding windows and doors from inside the trailer to the back door for scanning. Ryder emphasizes being upfront about pay, routes, and schedules. Ryder also offers to purchase trucks for company drivers and supports them. Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
  • Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
  • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
  • Must have 1 Year Sleeper Experience

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
  • Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
  • Maintaining accurate records and logs
  • Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
  • Performs other duties as assigned
