About The Position

The Lead Support Driver will be expected to travel to various locations and cover for regular route collection drivers during vacation, sick leave, or other business needs. While the company strives to keep Lead Support drivers within their own region, they occasionally must travel outside the region to fill open routes. This may require the Lead Support to stay out for an extended period of time, up to but not limited to 2 weeks. Upon approval from management, if a Lead Support driver is assigned to travel, all company-related travel expenses will be covered by the company. When necessary, this may include a rental vehicle, airfare, hotel, and meals. This position is a safety-sensitive position and requires a clear mind and diligence. The employee has the responsibility for his/her safety as well as the safety of others. Requirements

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Ability to safely operate tractor-trailers, tankers, end dumps, straight trucks, or other assigned commercial vehicles
  • Manual transmission experience required
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations
  • Ability to complete required paperwork and electronic logs accurately
  • Excellent time management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Safety-minded with a strong attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on truck and trailer combinations or commercial vehicles with a capacity of at least 26,001 lbs.
  • Complete Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) and report all defects, accidents, traffic violations, and vehicle damage immediately.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks such as checking and adding oil, fuel, coolant, and other fluids.
  • Conduct minor roadside repairs, including changing tires, replacing light bulbs, and installing tire chains when necessary.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and properly functioning equipment.
  • Safely operate tractor-trailers, tankers, end dumps, straight trucks, and other assigned commercial vehicles in compliance with FMCSA, OSHA, DOT, and company policies.
  • Transport, deliver, and collect products, materials, and waste safely and efficiently.
  • Read and interpret maps, dispatch instructions, and route information to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
  • Lower and raise trailer landing gear and safely couple and uncouple trailers, including connecting/disconnecting air and electrical lines and operating fifth wheel locking systems.
  • Maneuver vehicles into loading and unloading positions while communicating effectively with loading crews and site personnel.
  • Inspect loads to ensure cargo is properly secured and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Operate hoses, pumps, tools, and related equipment to collect and distribute materials as required.
  • Utilize truck cab computers, ELD systems, CB radios, and communication devices safely and appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate transportation documentation, including delivery receipts, signatures, manifests, and load-related paperwork.
  • Climb ladders and inspect loads when necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management or area supervisors.
  • Maintain accurate driver logs, Hours of Service (HOS) records, and vehicle maintenance documentation in compliance with CFR Part 49 and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Adhere to Denali Water Solutions’ Distracted Driving Policy and all FMCSA cell phone usage regulations.
  • Ensure all documentation related to deliveries, inspections, and vehicle operations is completed accurately and timely.
  • Follow all FMCSA, OSHA, DOT, and company safety procedures during daily operations.
  • Conduct daily inspections to verify that all mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is functioning properly.
  • Participate in monthly safety meetings, trainings, and quizzes.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Maintain awareness of personal safety and the safety of coworkers, customers, and the public at all times.
