About The Position

American Welding & Gas, Inc. has an immediate opportunity for a Class A CDL Delivery Driver at its Columbia, South Carolina location. The driver uses a company vehicle to deliver products and equipment to customers safely and courteously, and picks up returns at customer locations. The role involves moving, loading, and unloading compressed gas and liquid cylinders, handling delivery documentation, following company procedures and applicable regulations, and maintaining the vehicle. The position requires a Class A CDL with Hazmat, Tanker, and Airbrakes endorsements, a clean commercial driving record, and the ability to handle the physical demands of cylinder movement. Applicants must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, and company-administered road test. The employer describes its workplace as drug free.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Class A CDL with Hazmat, Tanker, and Airbrakes endorsements.
• At least 3 years with a clean commercial driving record.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Ability to move compressed gas and liquid cylinders; frequently lift 50–75 pounds and maneuver cylinders weighing over 100 pounds, such as by rolling them or using a cart.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, and company-administered road test.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers.

Responsibilities

• Deliver products and equipment to customers safely and courteously using a company vehicle.
• Pick up returns at customers’ places of business.
• Read, understand, and follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Comply with DOT and OSHA regulations.
• Move, load, and unload empty and full cylinders safely and efficiently.
• Prepare and/or complete paperwork accurately, including shipping papers and delivery tickets.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
