About The Position

Organix is seeking a dependable Class A CDL Route Driver to support a new food waste collection route serving the Rochester, Weedsport, and Auburn, New York areas. This employee will operate a power unit with a Wabo dump trailer, primarily servicing Tops and Walmart locations and transporting ZDP food waste material to a digester. Routes will generally operate within New York. Occasional travel to Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New Jersey may be required to support other routes or move equipment. This position requires flexibility with frequent schedule changes, route assignments, and equipment moves.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Current DOT medical certification.
  • Experience operating tractor-trailers.
  • Ability to safely navigate customer locations and delivery sites.
  • Ability to conduct detailed vehicle inspections and recognize equipment or safety concerns.
  • Willingness to perform weekly greasing and routine equipment care.
  • Strong communication skills, dependability, and sound judgment.
  • Flexibility to accommodate early starts, schedule changes, and occasional regional travel.
  • Ability to work around food waste material and associated odors.

Nice To Haves

  • Dump trailer experience preferred.
  • Experience driving in snow and ice, particularly lake-effect winter conditions, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a power unit with a Wabo dump trailer to collect and transport food waste material.
  • Service primarily Tops and Walmart locations and deliver collected material to a designated digester.
  • Begin routes between 2:00 AM and 5:00 AM, depending on operational needs.
  • Follow safe loading, unloading, and equipment operating procedures.
  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Grease equipment weekly and complete assigned routine equipment care.
  • Promptly report equipment defects, maintenance needs, safety issues, and DOT concerns to management.
  • Communicate clearly with management each day regarding route progress, service issues, delays, and equipment condition.
  • Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, and service records.
  • Adjust to frequent schedule changes and assist with route coverage or equipment moves as needed.
  • Operate safely during winter conditions, including snowfall, snow-covered roads, and ice. Operations pause during severe snowstorms, but driving during some winter snowfall is expected.
