About The Position

Primary purpose is to deliver products loaded and secured by the warehouse in a safe and courteous manner. Additional duties, which are necessary to carry out the function of the Driver, may be assigned and are incorporated by reference into this job description.

Requirements

  • Valid and current CDL and Medical Card.
  • Ability to operate in a safe manner in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations.
  • Ability to make an interstate journey.
  • Ability to report to work on time.
  • Ability to wear proper uniforms and any PPE such as steel-toe safety shoes.
  • Ability to conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicle and equipment.
  • Ability to comply with all Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) rules and regulations.
  • Ability to run a driver log on the PeopleNet ELD.
  • Ability to use the company’s P.O.D. (Proof of Delivery) scanner.
  • Ability to unload product of various sizes and weights from a straight truck or tractor trailer to customers using a 2-wheel dolly and trailer ramp or any other company issued safety equipment.
  • Ability to perform accurate accounting of delivery paperwork, collect cash and checks, and properly secure payments.
  • Ability to ensure the safe operation of equipment and maintain it.
  • Ability to take out overnight routes when necessary.
  • Ability to provide courteous customer service.
  • Ability to process information effectively and communicate information as needed to the immediate supervisor.

  • Experience with Drive-Cam camera system.

Responsibilities

  • Performance of safety-affecting activities on a motor vehicle used in transportation on public highways in interstate commerce.
  • Being constantly vigilant to detect unexpected road conditions, distracted drivers, and motorists who don’t understand how commercial vehicles operate; and commercial drivers must operate in a safe manner in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations.
  • Making interstate journeys during the regular course of employment.
  • Maintaining a valid and current CDL and Medical Card.
  • Reporting to work on time, as directed by the Transportation Management, and completing all duties assigned in a timely manner.
  • Wearing proper uniforms while on company time or business, etc.; including any PPE such as steel-toe safety shoes.
  • Conducting daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicle (truck, tractor, etc.) and equipment prior to departure and upon return from route; reporting any defects and bringing them to the attention of management immediately.
  • Complying with all Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) rules and regulations including, but not limited to, running a driver log on the PeopleNet ELD (Electronic Logging Device) that is in each truck and/or tractor.
  • Utilizing the company’s P.O.D. (Proof of Delivery) scanner to accurately deliver all product and/or equipment to any customer or company affiliate; unloading product of various sizes and weights from a straight truck or tractor trailer to customers using a 2-wheel dolly and trailer ramp or any other company issued safety equipment.
  • Accurate accounting of delivery paperwork to include all required documentation, accurate collection of cash and properly securing such cash and checks or other forms of payment approved by Accounts Receivable; this process is executed in accordance with current Departmental and/or Company Policy.
  • Ensuring the safe operation of equipment used and making sure it is maintained and kept clean during use.
  • Taking out overnight routes when necessary at Transportation Management’s discretion.
  • Enhancing and upholding the company’s reputation by ensuring courteous customer service.
  • Performing above listed duties in a cooperative, capable manner, processing the information effectively and communicating the information as needed effectively to the immediate supervisor.
  • Performing any other duties assigned by Transportation Management.
  • Subject to cross-training into jobs within the organization based on Company needs.
