Clamp Truck Operator
About The Position
This role is responsible for operating a clamp truck to manage paper rolls for the corrugator, ensuring compliance with GMPs, site security, and food packaging defense requirements. The operator will learn to read corrugator lineups, mark and record roll information, and unload/inspect incoming rolls. Key duties include safe clamp truck operation, maintaining a clean warehouse, maximizing equipment utilization, adhering to production schedules, and assisting corrugator operators. The position also involves making starch according to company formulas, monitoring inventory, understanding MSDS for chemical spills, and assisting with training. Compliance with all company policies, including safety and housekeeping, is essential.
Requirements
- 2 years clamp truck experience
- Understanding of equipment design and capabilities for efficient operation
- Knowledge of product quality specifications
- Knowledge of Quality standards
Responsibilities
- Comply with and support all applicable GMPs, Site Security, and Food Packaging Defense requirements.
- Take rolls of paper to the corrugator, recording all rolls taken.
- Learn to read corrugator lineups.
- Mark but rolls with size, diameter, lineal footage, and grade before returning to stock.
- Unload rolls from trailers and/or rail cars, noting any physical damage.
- Operate the clamp truck in a safe manner.
- Complete clamp truck inspection report at the beginning of each shift and submit maintenance work orders.
- Keep warehouse organized and clean.
- Turn in roll stock tallies to the corrugator supervisor or Scheduling Department.
- Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating machinery at available capacity and speed.
- Adhere to daily production schedule and make recommendations for optimization.
- Assist the corrugator operator as instructed by supervision.
- Make starch as needed per company formula.
- Check viscosities on corrugator and at starch station as necessary.
- Accurately record daily starch checklist.
- Maintain the wastewater treatment facility.
- Monitor inventory levels of starch and chemicals.
- Read related MSDS and learn proper response for emergency chemical spills or skin contact.
- Assist in the wet end training of the double backer and dry end personnel.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
