About The Position

Responsible for all activities associated with safely operating and caring for the clamp truck. This role involves taking rolls of paper to the corrugator, learning to read corrugator lineups, marking buttrolls, unloading rolls from trailers and/or rail cars, scanning rolls to their location, and using Mill wide for consumption and roll stock receipts. The operator must also maintain a clean and organized warehouse, maximize equipment utilization, adhere to the daily production schedule, and assist the corrugator operator as needed. Additionally, the position requires understanding MSDS, responding to chemical spills, and complying with all company policies and procedures, including safety and housekeeping.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED required
  • Able to read, write and speak in English and follow instructions.
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.
  • Able to apply concepts of high school math.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
  • Working knowledge of product layouts and production specifications
  • Working knowledge of product quality specifications
  • Working knowledge of quality standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior work experience in the packaging industry.
  • 6 months experience in some type of manufacturing operation

Responsibilities

  • Take rolls of paper to the corrugator, always taking buttrolls first, and record all rolls taken to the corrugator on the proper forms.
  • Learn to read corrugator lineups.
  • Mark buttrolls as to the size, diameter, lineal footage, and grade before returning to stock.
  • Unload rolls from trailers and/or rail cars. Check for and note any physical damage to the rolls.
  • Scan rolls to location.
  • Use Mill wide for consumption and roll stock receipts.
  • Operate the clamp truck in a safe manner.
  • Complete clamp truck inspection report at the beginning of each shift and turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
  • Keep the warehouse organized and clean.
  • Turn in roll stock tallies to the corrugator supervisor or Scheduling Department.
  • Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
  • Adheres to daily production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery and service goals.
  • Assist the corrugator operator as instructed by supervision.
  • Read related MSDS and learn proper response for emergency chemical spills or skin contact.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
