About The Position

Provides strategic leadership and direction for the enterprise learning and change management function. This position shapes and executes the long term vision for training, capability development, and organizational transformation to ensure alignment with corporate and claims department strategic objectives. The role oversees the design, delivery, and optimization of training programs and change initiatives that improve performance, operational efficiency, and employee readiness across all business units. The Manager influences cross functional decision making, partners closely with executives and department heads, and ensures adherence to regulatory and organizational standards while leading the organization through process, technology, and cultural change.

Requirements

  • Exceptional knowledge of MS Office Suite, specifically, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Understands capabilities of online learning tools, including authoring tools, Learning Management System, and web-conferencing.
  • Understands the ADDIE model as it relates to instructional design.
  • Strong consulting skills to identify learning needs and solutions.
  • Strong business acumen and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable with strong follow-through skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organization skills and the ability to prioritize.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead through ambiguity, make independent decisions, and establish standards, procedures, and best practices for the learning organization.
  • Demonstrated success in leading enterprise training programs, instructional design, or organizational learning initiatives.
  • Proven expertise in change management, including leading adoption of new processes, technologies, or organizational structures.
  • Experience contributing to strategic planning, operational efficiency initiatives, or organizational transformation programs.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey complex concepts.
  • Must have a valid state-issued driver’s license in good standing.
  • Must have the ability to travel.
  • College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • 10+ years of teaching or training experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience: 10+ years of experience in insurance, P&C claims operations
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • IBSTPI or other recognized training certification

Responsibilities

  • Set the strategic vision for the Selective Claims Department’s employee technical development program, defining required capabilities, performance expectations, and enterprise‑level key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with operational and organizational goals.
  • Lead comprehensive assessments of departmental skills, processes, and performance, engaging with business leaders and leveraging data insights to identify capability gaps and transformation opportunities.
  • Oversee the design of enterprise learning curricula, ensuring they integrate job‑specific skills, process improvement methodologies, and strategic business priorities.
  • Determine and champion the most effective enterprise‑wide learning methods, selecting and implementing training approaches that maximize organizational adoption and performance.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to Product teams and executive leadership, embedding training and change management into major initiatives and project roadmaps.
  • Lead the organizational rollout of training programs, including phased implementation, pilot testing, and iterative improvement based on feedback and performance metrics.
  • Ensure sustainable learning adoption by directing the development of tools, resources, and reinforcement strategies that support employees and leaders through operational changes.
  • Provide budgetary leadership, overseeing departmental financial planning, resource allocation, and ongoing cost stewardship.
  • Partner at the enterprise level across all major claims functions—including Product, WC, GL, Auto, Property, E&S, Bond, and QA—to assess organizational technical needs, drive alignment, and prioritize training solutions that support enterprise capability growth.
  • Lead organization‑wide change management strategy, developing and executing structured approaches that enable successful adoption of new systems, processes, and organizational structures.
  • Must be able to drive an automobile for business travel. Car travel represents approximately 40% of employee's time and requires a valid driver's license.
