About The Position

As a Claims Specialist, you will be responsible for managing an evolving portfolio of cargo claims, physical damage claims, property damage claims, and other financial issues with customers and carriers. This includes working with internal team members, partner carriers, and customers to investigate, understand contracts and facts of loss, organize series of events, effectively communicate, and help resolve all claims involving BBI Logistics. Our ideal candidate will have experience in property and casualty and/or commercial insurance. Have experience with claims processes and adjustors. Must be proficient in learning new concepts and procedures, maintain a high level of organization, possess problem-solving skills, demonstrate critical thinking, and maintain effective and professional communication. Individuals must have the ability and willingness to adapt to change, be a team player, meet and exceed deadlines all while working in a demanding, fast-paced, and stressful environment. They must have exceptional customer relationship skills. They must possess basic accounting skills.

Requirements

  • Experience in commercial claims and/or property and casualty
  • Strong independent decision-making skills

Responsibilities

  • Research reported cargo claims and determine validity of the claim
  • Manage the documentation (collection of paperwork/bills of lading) and submission process of each claim
  • Collect all necessary documents and information to file, investigate, and resolve claims in a timely manner
  • Diligently follow up on claims and insurance companies on behalf of BBI Logistics and our customers
  • Work with Accounting and Collections staff to resolve carrier and customer accounting issues related to claims
  • Provide ops team members with clear communication in relation to jointly owned tasks and updates
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Provide ample representation to carrier partners
  • Make judgement calls based on financial metrics and relationships
