About The Position

Merchants Insurance Group is seeking a Claims Service Representative to join its Central Claims team at its corporate headquarters in Buffalo, New York. The role is focused on providing outstanding customer service to agents, insureds, claimants, and other external customers while handling policyholders’ claims. The position follows a hybrid schedule: two full days per week in the office, with the remaining days worked remotely or in the office.

Requirements

Associate degree or equivalent work experience.
Prior customer service experience.
Excellent communication skills.
Computer experience, including Microsoft Word.

Responsibilities

Provide quality customer service through timely first contact, communicating expectations, and responding to and disposing of policyholders’ comprehensive claims in a timely manner.
Answer incoming calls and set up reported claims accurately and promptly in the claim system.
Complete timely coverage verification and thorough investigations to support equitable claim dispositions.
Perform claim activities and administrative tasks, including requesting appraisals and police reports, preparing and mailing payment documents, and issuing payments.
