About The Position

Merchants Insurance Group is seeking a Claims Service Representative for its Central Claims team at the corporate headquarters in Buffalo, New York. The role provides customer service to agents, insureds, claimants, and other external customers while supporting the timely and accurate handling of policyholders’ comprehensive claims. The position follows a hybrid schedule, with two full days per week in the office and the option to work remotely or in the office on the remaining days.

Requirements

Associate degree or equivalent work experience.
Prior customer service experience.
Excellent communication skills.
Computer experience, including Microsoft Word.

Responsibilities

Provide timely first contact, communicate expectations, and respond to customers promptly while managing the disposition of policyholders’ comprehensive claims.
Answer incoming calls and set up reported claims accurately and promptly in the claim system.
Verify coverage and conduct thorough investigations to support equitable claim dispositions.
Perform claim activities and administrative tasks, including requesting appraisals and police reports, preparing and mailing payment documents, and issuing payments.
