About The Position

The Claims Consultant confirms coverage and manages claims and lawsuits brought against policyholders. The role involves interpreting, analyzing, and resolving coverage issues; selecting legal counsel; managing litigation with outside counsel and its associated fees and expenses; setting reserves for loss and allocated expense handling (ALE); and resolving cases through settlement, dismissal, or trial. The consultant also negotiates, provides service to insureds, assists with sales and retention efforts where possible, and performs other activities required of a frontline claims professional.

Requirements

Minimum of five years of claims experience and/or litigation experience, preferably involving healthcare liability or other professional liability claims.
Strong negotiating skills.
An adjuster's license may be required, or the ability to obtain one within 90 days.

Nice To Haves

J.D. preferred.
A bachelor's degree may be considered if the candidate has other pertinent industry experience.
