About The Position

The Claims Assistant provides administrative support to assigned Claims Examiners to facilitate the effective administration of claims and the timely payment of benefits in accordance with applicable state law.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum of 1+ years’ claims insurance or closely related experience.
  • Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to learn enterprise resources planning (ERP) software.
  • Basic understanding of office procedures.
  • Exceptional customer service, phone etiquette and time management skills.
  • Excellent data entry, strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize assignments.
  • Must have the ability to: Read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Use basic math skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Collaborate effectively with others to achieve team goals and foster a positive team environment.
  • Exercise sound judgment in executing work deliverables from written or verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers basic to intermediate administrative support to Claims Examiners.
  • Contacts insured and other relevant parties to the claim to obtain necessary information to process the insurance claim.
  • Documents conversations or information on appropriate enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
  • Organizes and works with assigned Claims Examiners to update claims information as well as access, search and retrieve data.
  • Stays current with diary tasks and procedural changes.
  • Imparts exceptional customer service to internal and external customers
  • Provides information to insureds, claimants and outside vendors as requested by the Examiner.
  • Processes claims for indemnity payments and state mandated forms.
  • Processes appropriate claims related payments.
  • Assists Claims Examiner through claim resolution on related administrative projects.
  • Supports Claims Examiners in the preparation, processing and monitoring of payments
  • Communicates pertinent claim information to the client, legal counsel, service providers as well as internal claims staff.
  • Ensures documentation required to process claims is accurate and complete for auditing purposes.
