About The Position

This role is part of an early career talent program designed to equip individuals with the learning experiences and skills needed to launch a career in Claims. Participants will develop knowledge of AIG and the insurance industry through on-the-job experiences and masterclasses. The program also offers exposure to senior leaders, mentoring, networking, and volunteering opportunities to build connections across the organization. The primary focus of the role is managing litigation from complaint filing through appeals, evaluating claims, overseeing defense for insureds, assessing cases, reporting on trials, negotiating resolutions, and presenting to senior management. Additionally, the role involves tracking and analyzing legislative and regulatory developments, maintaining best practices for consistency, ensuring payment appropriateness and adequate reserving, monitoring claims, responding to client inquiries, collaborating with underwriters, actuaries, and adjusters, aligning with business partners on policy issues, and supporting data analysis for customer excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Managing litigation from the filing of a complaint through appeals, including all steps in between: evaluating claims; overseeing litigation, often managing the defense for our insureds in litigated matters; evaluating cases; reporting on trials; negotiating resolutions; and presenting to senior management.
  • Tracking, analyzing, and reporting on legislative and regulatory developments, as well as industry trends impacting the business / claims area.
  • Maintaining best practices to promote consistency throughout claims and the business.
  • Ensuring appropriateness of claims payments, adequate reserving, and reduction of claim costs.
  • Ongoing monitoring of respective claims and consistently responding to client inquiries to maintain and acquire business relationships.
  • Working alongside underwriters, actuaries, and adjusters to help the business assess risks, set prices, investigate, and settle claims.
  • Aligning with business partners, lawyers, and HR regarding policy issues.
  • Building and maintaining strong and effective relationships with key business stakeholders to fulfill projects and programs.
  • Providing support to data and operations to analyze key metrics that balance the need for customer excellence.
