Veteran Esquire Legal Solutions, PLLC is a law firm dedicated to supporting veterans and their families in navigating the complexities of VA disability benefits. Founded by a combat veteran, our firm is committed to securing the benefits veterans richly deserve. Jonathan, our founding attorney, leverages his military experience and legal expertise to cut through bureaucratic red tape, ensuring effective and compassionate advocacy for our clients. Our firm addresses a wide variety of claims, including mental health, military toxic exposure, and traumatic brain injuries. With a comprehensive understanding of the VA appeals process, we offer guidance and robust representation to simplify what can often be a daunting experience for veterans. Through a comprehensive understanding of the VA claims and appeals process, we develop tailored strategies to help veterans pursue the full benefits they have earned. We are seeking a dedicated Claims Agent to support our growing caseload of veterans’ benefits claims and appeals. This role is intended for someone who is eligible to become a VA-accredited Claims Agent and is committed to passing the Claims Agent exam within one year of hire. This role is pivotal to advancing our commitment to empowering veterans through skilled legal navigation and advocacy. By ensuring clients progress smoothly through their claims journey, you will help them achieve the outcomes they deserve while alleviating the burdens of the appeals process.

Requirements

  • Experience in a paralegal, legal assistant, case manager, veteran service officer, or similar legal/support role preferred.
  • Must be eligible to become a VA-accredited Claims Agent and committed to completing all required steps, including passing the Claims Agent exam within one year of hire.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a VA PIV Card within 90 days of start date, as this role may require access to VA systems and case-related records.
  • Comfortable using legal case management software similar to Practice Panther.
  • Familiarity with or ability to learn LexisNexis AI, ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Office, and Adobe is important, as the role involves reviewing AI-assisted work products and using technology to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interested in building deep expertise in veterans benefits work and growing with the firm, rather than treating the role as a short-term stepping stone.
  • Strong verbal and written skills for effective client interaction and legal document preparation.
  • Ability to work remotely and autonomously, demonstrating ownership and proactive case management.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in VA disability, veterans benefits, Social Security disability, workers’ compensation, or administrative law is a plus, but not required for the right trainable candidate.
  • Preferred familiarity with military culture and experience with veteran support systems.

Responsibilities

  • Help move VA disability claims and appeals forward by reviewing case files, identifying missing information, tracking next steps, and ensuring work product is complete.
  • Communicate with veterans to gather information, complete client questionnaires, ask thoughtful follow-up questions, and help develop testimonial evidence and written client statements for VA submissions.
  • Review, organize, and summarize VA claims files and supporting records, identify gaps in the evidence, and assist with requesting outside medical records or additional documentation when needed.
  • Assist with VA claims and appeals work, including supplemental claims, higher-level reviews, and Board appeals as needed, with a focus on reviewing VA claims files, evaluating appeal options, and preparing supporting evidence.
  • Review case files and draft work product for completeness, identify missing information or stalled matters, and proactively move files through the appropriate next steps.
  • Maintain deadlines, case status updates, and accurate electronic case files within the case management system.
