About The Position

As a Claim Rep, Auto Damage, you will support our customers and third-party claimants through the claims process when they experience vehicle damage. In this role, you will serve as a trusted resource and will deliver exceptional customer service by providing clear explanations of policies and coverage options while investigating and evaluating claims to ensure accurate payments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One year auto claim handling experience or comparable claim experience, or successful completion of Travelers Auto Claim Representative training program.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Two years of auto claim handling experience.
  • Active adjuster license, where applicable.
  • Proficient in claims management systems with advanced skills in Microsoft Office and enterprise technology systems and platforms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and make effective decisions.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and commitment to providing a positive experience for customers throughout the claim process.

  • Basic understanding of insurance principles and terminology, state insurance regulations and claim handling requirements.
  • Ability to quickly learn from experience and apply it to new situations with speed and flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Manage auto physical damage claims from first notice of loss through resolution and settlement, handling low to moderate complexity cases, including total loss evaluations and vehicle repair oversight. Types of claims are typically multi-vehicle (2 or more cars) auto damage with unclear liability and no injuries.
  • Evaluate and analyze policy terms, conditions, and exclusions to determine coverage, liability, and damage; negotiate equitable settlements within your authority.
  • Coordinate and partner with appraisal team(s) and repair facilities to obtain necessary information and ensure thorough accurate damage assessments and timely claim resolution.
  • Leverage all internal and external resources to conduct thorough investigations to gather all relevant facts accurately document findings in the claim management system and maintain accurate records of claim activity in claim management systems.
  • Determine settlement amounts based upon appraisal estimate, negotiate and convey claim settlements within authority limits to insureds and claimants. As appropriate, write denial letters, Reservation of Rights and other necessary correspondence to insureds and claimants.
  • Provide timely and professional communication to customers, representatives, and internal stakeholders.
  • Adapt to new technology implementations, system upgrades, and digital tool rollouts, particularly in the areas of AI while maintaining productivity and service quality.
  • Acquire and maintain relevant Insurance License(s) to comply with state and Travelers’ requirements within three months of starting the job.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
