The Civilian Investigator runs the Peoria Police Department's registered sex offender program. This person makes sure offenders who live in Peoria follow Arizona registration laws. The job includes keeping offender records up to date, checking addresses and employment, looking into possible violations, and preparing community notifications when the law requires them. The Civilian Investigator reports to a Police Sergeant and works closely with patrol officers, detectives, the county sheriff, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, prosecutors, courts, and other agencies. The work takes place both in the office and in the field. This is a civilian position without arrest powers, so any enforcement action is handled by sworn officers. The position plays a key role in keeping the public informed and helping protect the Peoria community.
