About The Position

As a part of our continued growth, AECOM is actively seeking a creative and highly talented Civil Technologist to join our team in this new role and assist in the delivery of major conveyance projects across the country and around the world. You will have a successful track record in the design and construction phases of linear water/wastewater infrastructure. As a Civil Technologist you will work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, supporting projects through design, tender, and construction phases. This role is well suited to a motivated technologist with strong construction inspection and Civil 3D design skills who is looking to grow within a leading global consulting firm. You will work in a team environment to deliver to our client base in the Ottawa, ON area, as well as the opportunity to work on our marquee projects across Canada and around the globe.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in municipal or water infrastructure design and inspection, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D
  • Eligibility to obtain Reliability Status (Government of Canada security clearance)

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of experience in municipal infrastructure and land development projects, including water, wastewater, roads, subdivisions, and pumping stations
  • Proficient in Civil 3D for site servicing, grading, drainage, and roadway design
  • Experience with construction inspection, field services, and topographic surveys using GPS and total station equipment
  • Familiar with contract administration, RFIs, change orders, payment certificates, and construction coordination
  • Experience preparing cost estimates, technical specifications, and contract documents
  • Knowledge of municipal, provincial, and federal infrastructure and environmental regulations, particularly in the Ottawa region
  • Strong organizational, communication, and Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to work independently in remote locations
  • Relevant certifications such as C.E.T., C.Tech., RCSI/RCJI, or CISEC are considered assets
  • Bilingualism (English/French) and willingness to travel for work out of province on rotational assignments are assets

Responsibilities

  • Prepare design, tender, and record drawing packages using Civil 3D
  • Assist in the development of site servicing, grading, drainage, and municipal road design drawings
  • Perform construction site inspections including monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements
  • Conduct field surveys and site measurements using GPS and/or total station equipment
