We are seeking a Junior to Intermediate Civil Engineering Technologist to join our team in Toronto, Ontario. This role is suited for candidates with practical, hands-on experience in Civil 3D design, including grading and drainage, and prior involvement in site development and/or municipal roadway projects. You will work on a variety of projects including pavement rehabilitation, parking lot expansions, roadway improvements, and municipal infrastructure upgrades, with involvement across the full project lifecycle from design and drafting through to construction support and field coordination. This position includes a combination of office and field responsibilities, and the successful candidate will be expected to attend project sites as required. Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in civil/site development, pavement, or municipal infrastructure projects
  • Hands-on experience in Civil 3D design, including grading, drainage, and site layout development
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, including: Surface modeling (TIN surfaces, breaklines), Feature lines and grading workflows, Basic roadway tools (alignments and profiles)
  • Working knowledge of grading, drainage, and site servicing principles
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel to project sites as required.
  • Eligible to work in controlled or high-security environments (as applicable).
  • Ability to obtain site access clearances (e.g., Controlled Goods, background checks).

Nice To Haves

  • Progress toward CET (OACETT) or similar designation is considered an asset
  • Additional coursework or training in Civil 3D, grading design, or municipal engineering is an asset.
  • Exposure to parking lot rehabilitation, Construction Field testing, roadway improvements, or site servicing projects is an asset
  • Experience supporting projects through design, tendering, and construction phases is an asset
  • Experience with construction site coordination or contract administration is an asset
  • Familiarity with Ontario standards, including OPSS, OPSD, and Ontario Traffic Manual (OTM) is an assert but not required

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of engineering designs, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and tender documents for civil infrastructure and asphalt pavement projects
  • Develop grading, servicing, and roadway drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Convert preliminary concepts and markups into detailed design drawings and tender-ready packages
  • Interpret survey and topographic data to develop practical grading and drainage solutions
  • Support the design of parking lot rehabilitation and expansions, roadway reconstruction and intersection improvements, and sidewalks, curbs, and accessibility features
  • Assist in pavement condition assessments, preparing tender documents and technical reporting
  • Assist Project Managers and Practice Leaders with monitoring and updating project scope, quantities, budgets, and schedules
  • Coordinate with internal team members and subconsultants to meet project schedules and deliverables
  • Assist in preparing municipal submissions and coordinating with approval authorities
  • Coordinate with clients and contractors for Pre-Tender, Pre-Construction, and Close-Out meetings
  • Maintain organized project documentation and ensure timely and accurate deliverables
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and field reviews for ongoing construction projects
  • Perform periodic site observations, review contractor submissions, and prepare field observation reports
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders throughout project execution
