About The Position

The Civil Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing construction, renovation, electrical services, and environmental solutions for government and private-sector customers. This role involves conducting work-related and quality inspections, preparing daily reports, maintaining project records, attending meetings, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The position requires managing field support staff, communicating with administrative staff, and representing the employer professionally with property owners and the public. A key aspect of this role is the skills and willingness to perform duties on a levee restoration site.

Requirements

  • High School or GED
  • 10+ years of demonstratable experience on levee or bank restoration projects for USACE
  • 5+ years of demonstratable experience as a SSHO (or alternate) on USACE projects
  • Has completed the 30-hour OSHA Construction/General Industry Safety Course
  • EM385 1-1 40-hour Certification (can be ongoing)
  • Has completed a 10-hour OSHA Construction Safety Course
  • Has current First Aid/ CPR training
  • Demonstratable experience in reading, interpretating, implementing specifications (contract, ASTMs, etc)
  • Has completed college level course work in construction management or civil/environmental engineering
  • Possess a valid driver license and clean driving record
  • Computer skills/software – Microsoft Office, Scheduling Software, CAD Software
  • Ability to complete and file paperwork in an organized and legible form
  • Recognizes and promotes a culture of safety
  • Must always maintain a constant state of mental alertness
  • Must always maintain a constant state of situational awareness
  • Requires extensive driving during each shift
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Have acceptable background check results
  • If applicable to the contract, must also obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required
  • Must also be able to obtain access to military installations

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a variety of work-related inspections / tasks (Daily Work Audits, Daily Production Mtg)
  • Review work procedures and processes with team members onsite
  • Conduct a variety of quality related inspections / tasks (Initial & Follow-up Inspections)
  • Review quality procedures and processes with team members onsite (Preparatory Meetings)
  • Prepare Contractor Daily Reports
  • Maintain the project records
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Prepare - writing/reviewing/submitting - documents for Government approval
  • Ensure regulatory compliance at the jobsite level
  • Perform Site Orientation training for staff
  • Maintain a safe work area
  • Manage field support staff
  • Communicate and work with the Administrative Support staff – Project Manager, Construction Manager, Cost Accountant
  • Communicate and professionally represent the Employer with property owners and the public
