About The Position

This role is generally responsible for performing routine design of less complex civil/structural assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. With experience at this level, you are expected to assist in the design of larger and more complex civil/structural assignments. This work will be performed under close supervision. Primary responsibilities will include familiarity with and utilizing department design and drafting standards, understanding project scope, specifications, and design criteria, and being familiar with structural calculations and drawings from other disciplines before initiating drafting efforts. The role involves drafting civil/structural plans under close supervision, understanding basic civil material specifications to ensure all necessary information for purchase, fabrication, and construction is reflected on drawings, and recognizing and communicating scope and design changes promptly. Additionally, the position requires assisting teammates in field-related work, collecting design information, and verifying designs for tie-ins, function, and clearances to existing facilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 2+ years of relevant industrial experience in civil/structural drafting and design.
  • Ability to produce drawings for concrete and structural steel, and/or civil disciplines.
  • Familiarity with specifications and details of construction bulk materials and equipment.
  • Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software, either AutoCAD, Microstation or both.
  • Gaining proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Virtual team skills and cross divisional relationships continue to develop, and providing interoffice execution support under close supervision.
  • The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarity with and utilizing department design and drafting standards.

  • Familiarity with structural calculations, equipment drawings and layouts or drawings from other disciplines before initiating drafting effort on any specific item.
