About The Position

Mesa Associates seeks an entry-level engineering associate to coordinate, prepare, and check calculations, specifications, reports, design details, plans, and drawings. The role is responsible for adhering to project scope, schedule, and budget on assigned projects. The associate applies basic engineering principles and practices in their area of specialty and works with design teams and other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects. They also follow Mesa policies and Business Unit procedures, check deliverables for technical accuracy and coordination, and assist design staff with construction issues.

Requirements

Entry-level engineering associate role.
General knowledge of structural standards and codes and how to apply them.
General design knowledge of concrete beams and slabs (ACI).
General design knowledge of structural steel columns and beams (ASCE, AISC).
General design knowledge of wood structures (formwork).
General design knowledge of pile systems, including micro, friction, and bearing piles.
General design knowledge of lifting and rigging.
General design knowledge of concrete anchorage systems.
General knowledge of applicable design software packages.
General knowledge of 3D modeling.

Responsibilities

Apply basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices to design in the area of specialty.
Work closely with the design team and other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
Follow Mesa policies and Business Unit procedures, including procedural requirements for generating documents and deliverables.
Perform technical and coordination checks and reviews of deliverables and other project documents.
Ensure deliverables comply with Business Unit procedures and applicable design requirements.
Prepare calculations using engineering formulas and skills or application-specific software.
Manage personal task assignments and adhere to project scope, schedule, and budget on assigned tasks.
Assist in resolving construction issues and support design staff in resolving problems and concerns.
