About The Position
FEI is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) to lead land development projects from concept to construction in North Carolina. This role offers significant responsibility, influence, and a seat at the table, allowing the individual to shape communities and build strong client relationships. The position is ideal for someone who desires more than just plan checking and wants to take ownership of project outcomes.
Requirements
- Active North Carolina PE license (required)
- Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited)
- 10+ years in land development engineering
- 3+ years leading projects or managing people
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Clear communicator and confident leader
- Valid NC driver’s license
- Authorized to work full-time in the U.S.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Ajera or similar project financial software
- Background in client-facing consulting
- Familiarity with land surveying principles
Responsibilities
- Lead land development projects as Engineer-of-Record and Project Manager
- Take responsibility for project outcomes: quality, timelines, budgets, and client satisfaction
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, municipalities, and regulatory agencies
- Guide and mentor Assistant Project Managers and technical staff
- Design and review site plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including grading, erosion control, subdivisions, water, sewer, stormwater systems, stormwater management, and final plats
- Coordinate permitting and approvals with local and state agencies
- Represent projects in meetings with boards, agencies, and stakeholders
