About The Position

WSP is seeking a Civil/Roadway Engineering Manager for its Albuquerque, NM office within the Transportation Business Line. This role involves providing leadership to a team of civil engineering staff, ensuring quality and technical excellence in project delivery. The manager will collaborate with WSP leadership to grow the transportation business through strategic marketing, effective communication, and collaboration. Responsibilities include coordinating civil and technical workshare across the state and region, and supporting pursuits for highway, bridge, roadway corridor, transit, rail, and multi-modal projects. WSP has a long-standing presence in New Mexico, with a history of impactful transportation programs. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience with a college degree; or equivalent experience with a strong focus in engineering, transportation, infrastructure, and/or project management/project delivery.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License Required.
  • Advanced proficiency with civil engineering principles, practices, process, standard of care, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
  • Advanced proficiency with making technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience of leadership, personal accountability, persistent and goal oriented.
  • Advanced proficiency with office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, etc.), technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Strongly established relevant client relationships and industry contacts in the local area.
  • Commitment to internal and external client service.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Strong experience in managing the review and approval of documents and discipline-specific deliverables, certifications, processes, and plans in a multi-project environment is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and operational excellence by optimizing client and employee experience through regular review and implementation of process improvements.
  • Ensure technical practices and programs are delivered with technical excellence, acting as a subject matter expert and ensuring technical and corporate compliance.
  • Anticipate and resolve internal/external challenges within the team, client base, or on projects.
  • Provide people leadership and direct supervision of the New Mexico Civil/Roadway Team, encouraging staff growth, creativity, and innovation.
  • Collaborate with the Local Business Line Leader to attract talent by fostering a collaborative work environment that values inclusion, diversity, and creative thinking.
  • Provide proactive and strategic process and people leadership for engineering and technical disciplines' project and program involvement.
  • Emphasize employee training and development to support staff growth and succession planning.
  • Inspire, motivate, and promote WSP's values to ensure strong employee engagement and morale.
  • Support programs such as Quality, Safety, Sustainability, Ethics & Compliance, and Inclusion & Diversity.
  • Market and maintain relationships with key clients by engaging in industry and client-facing activities.
  • Deploy unique expertise and perspective to create new value for clients and provide civic and industry leadership.
  • Drive performance of technical excellence practices and strategically grow market share.
  • Leverage technical experience and leadership to support client engagement.
  • Enhance current and new service offerings with a focus on transportation and infrastructure opportunities in all disciplines.
  • Support the advancement of the strategic direction for sustained and continued growth.
  • Encourage, support, and promote the technical and professional development of local WSP staff.
