About The Position
Milestone Equipment Contracting Inc. is seeking experienced Civil Operators from Vancouver Island for a temporary assignment in the East Kootenays, starting immediately and lasting until approximately the fall. This role is ideal for skilled workers looking for a temporary out-of-town experience. Upon completion of the East Kootenays assignment, operators will return to work on Vancouver Island, with the possibility of future travel to other project locations as needed.
Requirements
- Experience operating heavy equipment on mainline civil construction projects, including working at depths of 3 metres or greater and around live utilities
- Strong understanding of safe operating practices
- Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
- Ability to adapt to changing project needs
- Strong communication and situational awareness
- Accountability, professionalism, and reliability
- Willingness to support crews outside equipment when needed
- Willingness and ability to work temporarily in the East Kootenays and travel as required in the future

Responsibilities
- Safe, experienced and efficient operation of heavy equipment
- Supporting site crews with day-to-day production activities
- Working collaboratively with Foremen, Superintendents, and labour crews
- Performing daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance checks
- Maintaining production targets while ensuring quality workmanship
- Supporting safe work practices and company safety standards
- Assisting with site organization and material handling as required
- Contributing to a strong, respectful, and team-oriented work environment
