About The Position

Primoris Services Corporation is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Civil/Mechanical Equipment Operator to operate heavy machinery for various construction and utility projects. This role involves safely and efficiently operating equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, and other civil/mechanical equipment to support project objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of verifiable experience operating heavy civil/mechanical equipment in a construction or utility environment.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred but not always required depending on specific equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate multiple types of heavy equipment safely and proficiently.
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret grade stakes, blueprints, and other construction documents.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects, stand, stoop, bend, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • CDL preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of heavy equipment including, but not limited to, excavators, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, trenchers, rollers, and compactors, safely and efficiently according to company policies and procedures.
  • Perform pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning and identify any potential issues.
  • Understand and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and other instructions to perform tasks accurately.
  • Excavate, backfill, grade, and compact materials as required for project specifications.
  • Load and unload materials from trucks and other vehicles.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other personnel on site.
  • Assist with manual labor and general site duties when equipment operation is not required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or incidents promptly to supervision.
