About The Position
This role is for new graduates looking to launch their engineering careers. As an Engineer I at Freese and Nichols, you will work alongside experienced engineers, receive regular feedback, and have mentors and teammates to support your skill development on real projects. The role focuses on shaping how communities move, grow, and manage water and transportation. Opportunities are available in Water Resources, Stormwater, Water/Wastewater Planning and Design, or Transportation. The position is designed to help you build technical skills, see your work in the field, and work towards obtaining your EIT/EI and PE certifications. This role is ideal for December 2026, May 2027, and August 2027 new graduates.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Civil/Environmental/Water Resource Engineering, Biological and Agricultural/Biosystems Engineering, Structural/Geotechnical/Geological Engineering, or similar programs
- Knowledge of engineering principles

Responsibilities
- Develop design plans, support hydraulic calculations and drainage studies, analyze data, build models, and help prepare technical reports and construction documents
- Build and review models using industry-standard engineering software
- Work with experienced engineers who will explain the “why”, not just give you a task
- Visit project sites and see how designs move from plans to reality
- Gradually take ownership of portions of real project deliverables
