This internship is for an undergraduate pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering with an interest in traffic. The intern will join the Surface Transportation team and apply academic knowledge while working alongside Professional Engineers and Technicians on complex transportation infrastructure systems for the Department of Transportation, local agencies, and design-build contractors. Responsibilities include observing and collecting traffic data, completing intersection evaluations and corridor studies, conducting analyses using simulation and modeling software, preparing preliminary designs, and developing construction plans for traffic signals, construction staging, maintenance of traffic, and signing/striping. The ideal candidate would be available to work 40 hours per week with occasional overtime throughout the summer of 2027 from Tuesday, May 25 through Friday, August 13. This position would primarily work from our office or an assigned project site; however, there may be instances in which this position would be provided with flexible / hybrid work arrangements.
