About The Position

Bolton & Menk is seeking Civil Engineering Interns for their Municipal teams in the NE MN Area for the summer of 2027. This internship offers practical, on-the-job experience, with a focus on construction phase activities. Interns will assist with civil engineering projects, including planning, design, report preparation, plan and specification writing, cost estimation, construction observation, and administration. Some opportunities may also involve working on various reports, completing design calculations, writing specifications, and reviewing shop drawings. Requirements

Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering degree program or closely related program from an accredited post-secondary institution.
Minimum Cumulative GPA of 2.8.
Must be a Sophomore or above with completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD drafting.
Ability to work in extended outdoor conditions.
Physically capable of navigating rugged terrain for construction observation duties.
Possess a valid driver’s license and own transportation or ability to use public transportation.
Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis, part-time basis or internship for any employer without restriction.

Nice To Haves

Desired GPA of 3.2 or above.
Previous internship experience with Bolton & Menk.

Responsibilities

Assist on civil engineering projects with tasks involving civil engineering, planning and design.
Assist with the preparation of reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Assist with construction observation.
Perform construction staking.
Perform construction administration duties.
Work on various reports (in some opportunities).
Complete design calculations (in some opportunities).
Write specifications (in some opportunities).
Review shop drawings (in some opportunities).
