About The Position

Parsons is seeking applications for its Summer 2026 Civil Engineering Internship program, supporting the Syracuse (NY) team. This program offers the opportunity to expand engineering technical skills and knowledge through direct mentorship and collaboration with a team of infrastructure design experts. Interns will perform basic engineering support assignments, utilizing a CAD workstation to prepare engineering drawings from rough sketches and general information according to established standards. They will also compile data and perform calculations for drawings, gaining practical knowledge in the highway engineering discipline. This role is part of the Critical Infrastructure team, which focuses on designing and delivering infrastructure that connects and protects communities, enhancing mobility, sustainability, and resiliency.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree Civil or Structural engineering curriculum at an accredited college or university.
  • Must have completed at least two years of studies.
  • Candidates should be at a Junior or Senior level in an Undergraduate Degree Program or enrolled in a Master’s Degree program.
  • Literate in PC software.
  • Working knowledge of CAD and other computer software used to complete design assignments.
  • A standing GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
  • Some experience with Autocad or Microstation training is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of basic engineering support assignments requiring a fundamental knowledge of design/drafting standards, practices, and techniques.
  • Provide project support for various transportation-related projects in the greater region.
  • Utilize a CAD workstation to prepare engineering drawings (arrangements, layouts, as-builts, etc.) from rough sketches and/or general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.
  • Compile data and perform dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
  • Develop a practical knowledge of the highway engineering discipline.
