Join SPI's Summer Internship Program and work alongside experienced engineers on projects that help shape communities across Texas. As a Civil Engineering Intern, you'll contribute to active projects while developing technical, professional, and communication skills that will prepare you for a successful engineering career.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering degree program.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Interest in civil engineering design, construction, or infrastructure.
- Ability to work collaboratively and follow direction.
Nice To Haves
- AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is a plus, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Assist engineers with design calculations and technical tasks.
- Support preparation of engineering drawings, exhibits, and reports.
- Perform drafting using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software.
- Participate in field visits to observe construction, surveying, and site conditions.
- Assist with data collection and engineering documentation.
- Learn engineering standards, design practices, and project workflows.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, surveyors, and project managers.
- Participate in SPI's Internship Bingo program, designed to expose interns to multiple aspects of civil engineering through project meetings, field observations, surveying, CAD production, project management, mentorship, and cross-functional learning opportunities.
