About The Position

Kickstart your engineering career with real project experience. Gain hands-on experience in site design and land development while collaborating with industry experts who are invested in your professional development, mentorship, and growth as an emerging engineer. Bohler’s office in Miami, FL is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) eager to learn, grow, and contribute to real-world site design projects. As a Summer 2027 intern, you will gain insight into the daily operations of a civil engineering firm and understand the complete site development process, from concept to construction. By working alongside engineers, designers, and project managers, you will gain hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, supporting the design and permitting of commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use developments.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems Engineering, or a related field
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • A self-starter attitude with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Curiosity and motivation to learn within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Interest in civil site design, land development, and problem-solving
  • Applicants must have current authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D (training provided if not yet proficient)

Responsibilities

  • Experience the day-to-day operations of a civil engineering and site design firm
  • Learn the stages of the land development and site design process
  • Enhance your technical skills with hands-on experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to design: Concept plans, Grading plans, Stormwater management plans, Utility system plans, Soil erosion and sediment control plans
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to coordinate and drive projects forward
  • Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions
  • Visit sites to observe field conditions and see the engineering process in action
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to design and process improvements
