About The Position

The Civil Engineering Intern will work with LJA Land Development, gaining hands-on experience on real-world projects and contributing to engineering assignments with guidance from experienced engineers. The role offers exposure to project phases and day-to-day engineering work, including shadowing operations and completing assignments that support larger projects. Interns will also learn about LJA’s sectors and services and take part in social engagement activities.

The Summer Internship Program runs from mid-May through the first week of August. It is fully in person, Monday through Friday, for 40 hours per week. The program includes project and design support, site visits and field exposure, mentorship, professional development and communication training, Lunch & Learn sessions, career panels, networking, volunteer activities, and intern events.

Requirements

• Must have completed at least one year of college.
• Must be pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Strong academic performance, motivation, and work ethic.
• Good organizational, oral communication, and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies.
• Ability to collaborate and work well in a team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
• Sincere desire to gain experience in and knowledge of the company and industry.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering assignments under the direction of experienced engineers.
• Shadow operations and learn about project phases.
• Complete assignments that support larger projects and gain exposure to day-to-day engineering work.
• Participate in social engagement activities and learn about LJA’s sectors and services.
