Position Overview We are seeking a Civil Engineer to join our New York team based in New York City. In this role, you will contribute to the planning and design of streets, highways, interchanges, railroad sites, and other critical infrastructure projects in the city and beyond. You will perform a variety of engineering tasks and be responsible for developing engineering studies, designs, estimates, and construction documents. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Parsons’ U.S. network, gaining exposure to diverse project types and geographies while using industry‑leading tools and best practices. This position will be a hybrid position out of our Manhattan, NY office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) and 3 - 7 years of related work experience.
  • Familiarity with NYCDDC, NYCDOT, and/or NYCDEP standards and specifications.
  • Proficiency in utilizing AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation software, and working knowledge of other PC software packages typically associated with engineering.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • NYCDOT/NYCDDC civil/highway experience preferred.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field investigations and support the design of roadway/highway geometry, grading and drainage, utilities, green infrastructure, work zone traffic control, site layout, and other associated transportation engineering tasks.
  • Develop civil/highway design plans, profiles, sections, and details using engineering software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, specifications, and other contract documents.
  • Support multi‑disciplinary design development teams for project execution, coordinating with structural, traffic, geotechnical, environmental, and other disciplines.
  • Interface with CAD designers, other engineers, and subcontractors to progress design packages and resolve technical issues.
  • Provide support for other engineering activities as required, including design reviews and construction-phase services.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
