Barr Engineering Co•Ann Arbor, MI

About The Position

This mid-level Civil Engineer supports project teams on civil engineering and related technical assignments, primarily designing for power generation, mining, and industrial site development, including buried utilities, with opportunities to work in other sectors. The role includes civil design and analysis, CADD modeling, preparing construction plans and specifications, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. Other work may include site grading and layout, hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, report writing, construction cost estimating, construction management and observation, and facility inspections. The position also contributes to project planning and management, proposal development, defining scopes, deliverables, schedules, and budgets, and helping coordinate and execute projects. The engineer helps track milestones, communicates updates to team members and clients, and supports the growth and development of colleagues. Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and project-management skills are important, as is a cooperative, self-directed, and flexible approach. Occasional schedule adjustments may be needed to meet deadlines or client needs. The position may be based in Barr’s Ann Arbor, Michigan, or Salt Lake City, Utah, office. A hybrid arrangement splitting time between the office and a home office may be considered; the posting also says the position can be remote. Work may take place at construction sites with rough terrain. Safety training will be provided before assignments at these sites, and candidates may be asked to participate in drug screening at the request of specific clients. Candidates must be able to perform the job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
