This role helps you build key engineering skills through a one year rotation in several units within the PennDOT Engineering District 5 Office. As a Civil Engineer Trainee, you will perform the following duties: Training Rotation: Rotate through multiple engineering units to develop a strong civil engineering foundation Project Exposure: Work on a variety of assignments that support public safety and environmental protection Skill Development: Build knowledge in areas such as materials, traffic, construction, and roadway planning Team Collaboration: Work with supervisors and staff in each unit to complete assigned tasks Progress Review: Receive feedback before moving to the next rotation segment.

Requirements

  • One year of civil engineering experience and a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related field that includes or is supplemented by major coursework in civil engineering
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree
  • Possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension
  • Ability to perform essential job functions
