About The Position

Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is hiring a Civil Engineer - Stormwater (PE) for our Birmingham, AL office. The position's functions will be facilitated through project work. This role involves providing technical and thought leadership, facilitating staff development, and contributing to the growth of the stormwater discipline within the company.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering.
  • 4 - 10+ years of experience.
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Alabama, or ability to gain licensure within 4 months of hire.

  • Hydraulic Modeling (HEC-RAS 1D/2D and LA DOTD HydroWIN, FHWA HY-8 and Hydraulic Toolbox minimum)

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and thought leadership to Waggoner staff and clients in the stormwater discipline.
  • Facilitate staff development in the stormwater discipline.
  • Facilitate the growth and development of the stormwater discipline at Waggoner.
  • Serve as Waggoner’s technical lead in executing services related to stormwater management, including planning, design, and construction administration.
  • Assist project managers and CAMs in developing technical scope of work, budget, and schedule for stormwater projects.
  • Manage all aspects of the discipline, including hiring, exercising company disciplinary policies, and performing annual performance reviews.
  • Ensure client quality expectations are met and address quality problems.
  • Mentor and develop Waggoner staff in necessary skill sets for the discipline.
  • Stay informed about trends and opportunities impacting stormwater services.
  • Determine equipment, software, and information needs for the discipline.
  • Identify and develop project opportunities for new work and expanded services for clients.
  • Collaborate with Business Development and Marketing staff to pursue business in the discipline area.
  • Develop marketing and sales plans related to the discipline.
  • Assist in meeting company marketing and sales plan goals, particularly for the discipline.
  • Work closely with the Management Team, PMs, and CAMs regarding discipline area services.
  • Develop proposal strategies for opportunities that leverage company strengths and innovative thinking.
