About The Position

This role serves as the Engineer of Record, responsible for stamping and sealing civil and structural design documents. The position involves leading civil and structural design efforts for infrastructure upgrades and facility improvements at SPR sites. Key responsibilities include developing and reviewing structural steel systems, reinforced concrete foundations, equipment and tank foundations, anchorage and embedment systems, and grading, drainage, and site development plans. The role requires performing structural analysis in accordance with industry standards such as ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC Steel Manual, UFC criteria, and DOE standards. The engineer will prepare and review calculations, technical specifications, design narratives, and construction documents, while also coordinating with other engineering disciplines. Additional duties include supporting value engineering and constructability reviews, providing quality assurance, offering engineering support during construction (RFIs, submittals, site visits), and participating in field investigations and structural condition assessments. Projects are primarily delivered using a Design-Bid-Build approach within a federal contracting framework.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• Licensed in Louisiana and Texas or able to obtain reciprocity in both states
• 12+ years of progressive civil/structural design experience
• Demonstrated experience serving as Engineer of Record and stamping construction documents
• Extensive experience in industrial structural steel design
• Extensive experience in reinforced concrete design
• Extensive experience in heavy equipment foundation design
• Extensive experience in wind loading in hurricane-prone regions
• Experience supporting federal clients (DOE, USACE, VA, DOD preferred)
• Proficiency with structural analysis software (RAM, RISA, STAAD, or similar)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit
• Ability to obtain and maintain required site access/security clearance
• Civil and structural design: 10 years (Required)
• Professional Engineer (Required)

Nice To Haves

• Experience in energy, petroleum, or industrial processing facilities
• Familiarity with UFC criteria and federal design standards
• Experience performing structural assessments of aging infrastructure
• Construction phase engineering support experience

Responsibilities

• Serve as Engineer of Record and stamp/seal civil and structural design documents.
• Lead civil and structural design efforts for infrastructure upgrades and facility improvements at SPR sites.
• Develop and review structural steel systems (pipe racks, platforms, equipment supports).
• Develop and review reinforced concrete foundations and slabs.
• Develop and review equipment and tank foundations.
• Develop and review anchorage and embedment systems.
• Develop and review grading, drainage, and site development plans.
• Perform structural analysis in accordance with ASCE 7 (including coastal wind exposure requirements), ACI 318, AISC Steel Manual, UFC criteria and DOE standards.
• Prepare and review calculations, technical specifications, design narratives, and construction documents.
• Coordinate with mechanical, piping, electrical, and process disciplines.
• Support value engineering reviews, constructability reviews, and internal quality assurance.
• Provide engineering support during construction (RFIs, submittals, site visits).
• Participate in field investigations and structural condition assessments.
