Civil Engineer/Senior Civil Engineer
About The Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Civil Engineer or Senior Civil Engineer to join a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in Newcastle. Working across a diverse portfolio of residential, mixed-use, and infrastructure projects, you will play a key role in delivering innovative infrastructure solutions from concept through to construction. This position is ideal for an engineer with strong experience in highways, drainage, and infrastructure design who is looking to take ownership of projects, work closely with clients and stakeholders, and contribute to the successful delivery of major developments across the UK.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience delivering infrastructure design projects within a consultancy environment.
- Strong understanding of drainage design, highways design, and development infrastructure.
- Experience producing technical approvals in line with Building Regulations, CIRIA C753, and Section 104 requirements.
- Familiarity with Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategies, and utility coordination.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
Nice To Haves
- Working towards or holding professional accreditation with ICE would be advantageous.
- Experience with some or all of the following: Civil 3D AutoCAD MicroStation Navisworks InfoDrainage MicroDrainage
Responsibilities
- Deliver civil infrastructure designs across residential, mixed-use, and infrastructure developments.
- Produce detailed drainage strategies, calculations, drawings, and technical reports in accordance with UK standards and best practice.
- Design and coordinate highways, earthworks, levels strategies, and drainage solutions.
- Prepare Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies to support planning applications and condition discharge.
- Develop 3D ground models for cut and fill analysis, volume calculations, and vertical road design.
- Liaise with local authorities, statutory undertakers, and project stakeholders to secure technical approvals and ensure project compliance.
- Support project delivery throughout design, procurement, and construction phases.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient and integrated engineering solutions.
- Assist in mentoring junior engineers and supporting technical development across the team.
