Your Opportunity As a Civil Engineer in Training in our Community Development Group, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of innovative and diverse land development projects. This position involves working collaboratively with design teams in the development of construction plans and specifications; preparing reports, studies, and construction contract documents; computing quantities and preparing cost estimates; performing field observations and assisting in the coordination and management of construction activities.

Requirements

• Strong foundational understanding of general concepts of civil engineering design.
• Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
• Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building programs and other similar materials.
• Good communication skills, attentiveness to detail, and multi-tasking ability.
• Willingness to learn new skills and interface with multiple project managers.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, OneNote, and OneDrive.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and Civil3D.
• Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of 1 year of related professional work or Co-op/Internship experience preferred.
• Engineer-in-Training designation, successful completion of the EIT exam or the ability to take the EIT exam within six months of starting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform civil design and technical tasks on projects under the supervision of the Project Manager or Project Engineer.
• Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project.
• Perform data analysis and calculations to analyze and design civil system components.
• Collect data and gathering information to support design decisions.
• Perform field work/construction observation under the supervision of a senior engineer/designer and/or construction manager.
• Interpret and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
• Analyze proposed project solutions to ensure reliability, resource efficiency and cost effectiveness.
• Communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and written, with project team members, clients, and contractors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
