About The Position

Weyerhaeuser is a leader in the structural frame market, providing innovative products, systems, and services for residential, light commercial, and home improvement applications. The Product Engineering team plays a crucial role in ensuring code compliance and supporting the specification and application of Weyerhaeuser engineered wood products. The selected candidate will work under the supervision of a diverse team of engineers, focusing on resolving technical field questions, preparing code evaluation submittal documents, supporting industry activities, and developing product specification literature and structural design software. Additional responsibilities include supporting laboratory experiments and product manufacturing activities. The ideal candidate is a creative self-starter with a can-do attitude, who enjoys learning and problem-solving, values accuracy, and strives to create an injury-free, high-productivity environment. Strong interpersonal skills and a team-player mentality are essential. This position is located in Federal Way, WA, with potential for limited travel.

Requirements

  • Engineer-in-training certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited institution required
  • Critical thinker with a desire to become an integral part of our team
  • Highly motivated and organized individual who excels in a dynamic team environment
  • Goal-oriented attention to detail and deadlines
  • Willingness to safely participate in a results-based culture
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

  • Functional knowledge of AutoCAD or related drafting software preferred
  • Functional knowledge of Visual Basic macro development in Excel preferred

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in a safety-driven workplace culture

  • Developing product literature and software design specifications
  • Resolving technical field problems
  • Preparing code evaluation submittal documentation
  • Supporting test laboratory by developing experiment plans, witnessing testing and writing technical reports
  • Manufacturing activities such as reviewing QA data and conducting plant audits
