This position supports PennDOT by providing engineering expertise for facility design, maintenance, construction and upgrades across the state. As a Civil Engineer Consultant, you will perform the following duties: Design Oversight: Review contractor and architect plans to ensure compliance with codes, specifications, and schedules Facility Inspections: Evaluate repairs, renovations, and structural work performed at PennDOT facilities Technical Support: Provide engineering guidance on new buildings, upgrades, and specialized systems such as water and sewer facilities Project Coordination: Work with managers, engineers, and municipalities on design approvals, planning, and construction activities Cost Analysis: Prepare detailed estimates using industry cost data to support budgeting and project planning Regulatory Compliance: Interpret construction codes, hazardous material regulations, and safety standards for facility projects

Requirements

  • Four years of professional civil engineering experience which includes three years in the appropriate specialty
  • Possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
