About The Position

Our Pittsburgh, PA office is looking for a Civil Drafter with 6+ years of experience to join our Development Services team! The person in this position will make and quality check drawings and plans of substantial complexity and may perform some multifaceted calculations. This role requires minimal supervision to perform day to day tasks. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of engineering principles and suggest design changes, maintain the drawing database, and supervise and train CAD staff. They will also coordinate work activities to maintain schedules and ensure quality control, and develop familiarity with Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards.

Requirements

6+ years of relevant experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to set up and manage printing/plotting settings
Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk or Bentley products
Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn
Ability to work independently and with a team
Willingness to mentor and teach others
Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter

Responsibilities

Utilize Civil 3D for advanced grading, pipe network, and pressure pipe network designs
Employ BIM 360 and/or Navisworks for design & construction phase coordination
Implement and manage drafting and plan preparation standards
Develop technical drawings and plans
Make and quality check drawings and plans of substantial complexity
Perform some multifaceted calculations
Maintain drawing database
Supervise and train CAD staff
Coordinate work activities to maintain schedules and ensure quality control
Develop familiarity with Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards
