About The Position

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Designer/Drafter to join their team. This role involves performing plan production for civil engineering projects related to Transportation and Public Infrastructure. The ideal candidate will utilize computer-aided drafting and design software to assist in preparing construction details, design plans, reports, and meeting exhibits. This position requires transferring information from engineering markups and computer files to final plans and maps, and visualizing concepts in 2D or 3D. Tasks are performed under close supervision or from detailed procedures.

Requirements

• Proficient in specialized civil design applications for AutoCAD software.
• Proficient in other widely used computer applications (i.e., Microsoft Office).
• Basic knowledge of computer file directories and use.
• Fundamental understanding of civil engineering plan and profile development for public infrastructure projects, including the ability to interpret, prepare, and coordinate construction plans for roadway, drainage, water, wastewater, and related municipal infrastructure improvements.
• 2 year technical/associates degree OR 1-5 years of experience as a CAD Technician (or equivalent)
• High School graduate or GED

Responsibilities

• Performing plan production for civil engineering projects related to Transportation and Public Infrastructure.
• Utilizing computer aided drafting, design software and various other computer software packages to assist in the preparation of construction details, design plans, reports, and meeting exhibits.
• Transferring information in numerical, written and sketched, or electronic format from engineering markups and computer files to final plans and maps.
• Visualizing and illustrating concept or designs in 2 or 3 dimensions.
• Performing tasks under close supervision or from detail procedures.
• Assisting in the preparation of construction quantity and cost estimates.
